Established in 1996, Al Bayaan Islamic Council Trust is a registered South African non-profit Islamic organisation dedicated to advancing Islamic education, providing religious guidance, strengthening Islamic institutions, and promoting community welfare and social development.
Guided by the principles of the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah (traditions) of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and the teachings and understanding of his noble Companions (Sahabah, may Allah be pleased with them), Al-Bayaan upholds the beliefs and principles of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, as understood and expounded through the four recognised Sunni schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Madhahib): Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki, and Hanbali.
Headquartered in Johannesburg, Al Bayaan operates through a network of regional branches and directly administered Masaajid, Madaaris, Islamic centres, and educational institutions across South Africa. Its principal branches are located in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bellville (Western Cape), Gqeberha, Rustenburg, and East London, enabling the organisation to serve diverse communities through coordinated programmes and locally responsive initiatives.

Our Core Activities
Al Bayaan delivers its programmes through eight principal departments:
- Islamic Outreach and Guidance (Da’wah Wal Irshad): Promoting Islamic awareness, religious education, and spiritual development.
- Islamic Education (Ta’lim Board): Administering and supporting Madaris, Qur’anic education, and Islamic learning institutions.
- Social Welfare: Guiding charitable and humanitarian assistance, including Zakaat, Lillaah, Sadaqah, and other Shariah-compliant contributions.
- Social and Burial Services: Supporting families and communities through essential social and burial-related services.
- Mediation and Reconciliation: Promoting peaceful dispute resolution, family stability, and community harmony.
- Youth Development: Nurturing Islamic identity, responsible leadership, and the moral development of young people.
- Islamic Jurisprudence (Ifta): Providing guidance on Islamic religious and jurisprudential matters.
- Media and Communication: Advancing Islamic awareness, education, and public engagement through media and digital platforms.
